Tank commander, Senior Sergeant Sergei Mylnikov received the title of Hero of Russia at the age of 21 for his participation in the military conflict in South Ossetia in August 2008. As part of a group of four T-72s, Sergeant Mylnikov conducted an hour-long battle with units of Georgian troops that blocked a peacekeeping battalion of Russian troops in Tskhinvali. When ammunition was running out, Mylnikov decided to go alone to the enemy on a tank without shells. Frightened, the Georgian military abandoned their positions, freeing up a corridor for the exit of Russian peacekeepers.
The AMAKS Polar Star Hotel in Novy Urengoy was pleased to host the hero Sergei Mylnikov and thanks for the preference for a comfortable stay in our hotel.
